  1. Sep 09,  · John Lennon’s 2nd solo album is pretty cool though not as emotional and heartfelt as the 1st it’s still pretty great. Making it a classic is its inclusion of the title song, Imagine, what I consider his best song. Of course listening to it on vinyl brings this sort of authenticity/5(36).
  2. May 24,  · Jealous Guy: 5/5 John deftly revived an old White Album demo (Child of Nature) and wisely converted it into this piano-driven track. Like with Imagine, the piano provides a certain amount of sincerity and solemn emotion needed to truly convey the subject.

  7. Its knockabout honky-tonk contrasts with Lennon’s previous album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, through the lyric shares a “primal scream” acuteness. Likewise ‘ Jealous Guy ’, another unflinching look into the writer’s own sense of failure, is spun into a different realm by its ethereal melody.
  8. Imagine is a much calmer (saner?) album where Lennon has at least partially redeemed himself. Outstanding tracks include the title song, "Jealous Guy" & "Oh My Love". But Lennon had yet to clear the air on everything; "How Do You Sleep" is a scathing attack on Paul McCartney that might have been more at home on Plastic Ono Band/5.
